Long ago Zhuangzi dreamed he was butterfly, playing and flitting merrily about with no thought of being a man. When he woke, there he was, unmistakably and solidly Zhuangzi. The question arose, was he Zhuangzi who dreamed he was a butterfly or was he now a butterfly dreaming of being Zhuangzi?
If we want to fulfill ourselves as human beings, a good place to start is to see through who we are, to see through the dream that we are in. This underlies everything we do. It gives us a freedom to walk through interesting times and to live our way into our best selves.
